Blackberries are cane shrubs, and usually referred to as brambles. Some varieties produce fruit on new wood, others on old wood, and some on both. Also, some varieties have thorns while others are thornless. Thornless varieties are easier to manage. The specific variety in this video is ‘Triple Crown’, a thornless, semi-trailing, blackberry that bears fruits on floricanes, which are second year canes. (First year canes are called primocanes.)
