Sweetshrub (Calycanthus floridus) is an erect to rounded deciduous native shrub. It is a multi-stemmed shrub that grows 6' - 12" tall with an equal spread. As a spring bloomer, it should be pruned after flowering, with an emphasis on removing suckers, the 4D's, and then thinning a bit for airflow and sunshine (if necessary).
