Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis)
Buttonbush typically grows up to 6 to 8 feet tall and wide, but can attain a height of 12 to 15 feet with an equal spread. Its open, irregular form has often been described as disheveled or unkempt. Buttonbush can look more attractive by pruning lanky, wayward branches to outward growing side shoots. It can also be limbed-up and maintained as a small, multi-trunked tree.
